Can I use it?
There are two ways in, and you only need one of them. A passport in your phone's wallet, or a state that issues a digital license. Most people have the first.
The 10 second answer
Open Google Wallet on your phone. If you can see an ID pass or a driver's license in there, you can use IRLProof right now. If you cannot, add one of the two below.
Whatever any page says, including this one, the wallet in your hand is the authority. Lists go out of date. Your phone does not.
Route 1: your passport
This is the one that works almost everywhere, and it has nothing to do with which state you live in. Google Wallet lets you turn your passport into an ID pass by photographing the picture page and scanning the chip in the back cover. Your state never enters into it.
Your country may well be supported. Google has ID pass live for passports from the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Brazil and Taiwan, with parts of Europe arriving. That list grows without us being told, and it also depends on which wallet you use. It costs nothing to try signing in and find out.
We would rather you tried and it did not work than assumed it would not and never tried. Nothing is created and nothing is kept if your wallet has no credential to offer.
Adding it is a one-time thing you do inside Google Wallet, not here. IRLProof never sees your passport, only the answer to "is this a real credential", the same as with a license. What we actually ask for.
Route 2: a digital license or state ID
Some US states now issue a mobile driver's license, which is the digital version of the card in your wallet. It does not have to be a driver's license. If your state issues a non-driver state ID card, that counts too, so this works for people who do not drive.
Not every state has built one yet. Roughly 22 states and territories issue one today, with about 15 more announced or in pilot. It is moving quickly and changes month to month.
If your state is not there yet, that is the reason to look at route 1 rather than to give up. Checked 9 September 2026 against AAMVA's list, which is the authoritative one.
The state by state detail, if you want it
"Not confirmed" means exactly that: we have not found a source we would stand behind either way. It does not mean no. We would rather admit we do not know than guess and send you to a sign-in that cannot work, or turn you away from one that would.

If neither works for you
Then not yet, and we would rather say so plainly than waste your time. This service checks a government-issued digital credential, so if you have neither a supported passport nor a state that issues a digital ID, there is nothing for your phone to present. Both lists are growing, so it is worth asking again in a few months.
There is deliberately no fallback that scans a photo of your plastic card. That would mean collecting a picture of your ID, which is the one thing this service exists not to do. Why we made that trade.
IRLProof currently accepts Google Wallet only. Apple Wallet support is planned. Apple has US passports and a shorter list of states, and the column above is there so you can see where it stands.
